Ethnological Museum
The Ethnological Museum provides an in-depth exploration of Ethiopia’s extraordinary cultural and ethnic diversity. Situated within the scenic grounds of Addis Ababa University, in the former palace of Emperor Haile Selassie, the museum offers a mix of anthropology, history, and art. Its exhibits showcase traditional clothing, tools, musical instruments, religious artifacts, and intricate handicrafts from Ethiopia’s more than 80 ethnic groups. Visitors can also learn about social customs, ceremonies, and daily life across the country’s regions. The museum’s setting, surrounded by gardens and historic buildings, makes it not only an educational experience but also a place of serene reflection on Ethiopia’s rich cultural mosaic.
